I enjoyed the article Jack and you brought out some very interesting and insightful points. I know what a stretch that was for you to actually "talk" to a stranger on the subway. Why, the audacity! ;)

Life is only exciting when we do stretch outside of our comfort zone. If that wasn't true I wouldn't have jumped out of helicopters and airplanes in the Army. Life can be so boring if we let it.

In addition, we must always take personal comfort zone into consideration when working with a new member. You can only build from where they are and not jump too far ahead or they will be scared into inertia. If flowers didn't stretch their comfort zone we wouldn't have beautiful blossoms. :D

Great article Jack...I had to laugh for a moment with the whole sunglasses and hat moment, because it briefly reminded me of the Adam Sandler movie "Big Daddy" where the little boy, Julian, wore sunglasses to hid (be invisible) until he felt comfortable to take them off.

But your experience is a testimony to others about doing what is necessary to get outside their comfort zone and GROW!
